The 74 Gun Ship Ship Bellona by Brian LaveryThe 74 Gun Ship Ship Bellona by Brian Lavery
Ref: K368
The 74 Gun Ship Ship Bellona by Brian Lavery : The '74' was the classic line-of-battle ship of the late eighteenth century, and Bellona was one of the most important and long lived. Launched in 1760, during the Seven Years War, she belonged to the first truly successful class of British 74gun ships, a design by Thomas Slade that was built in large numbers over more than twenty years. Bellona herself served with distinction over 54 years, fought in four wars and was not broken up until 1814. The 'Anatomy of the Ship' series aims to provide the finest documentation of individual ships and ship types ever published. What makes the series unique is a complete set of superbly executed line drawings, both the conventional type of plan as well as explanatory views, with fully descriptive keys. These are supported by technical details and a record of the ship's service history.

This volume features a full description of the ship, how she came to be purchased, and the short history of her naval service.

With over 300 perspective and 3view drawings, accompanied by in-depth descriptive keys.

This revised edition features a large-scale plan of the ship on the reverse of an extended foldout jacket.

Brian Lavery is probably the world's leading authority on the ship of the line. Apart from contributing numerous articles to magazines and journals, he edited and introduced a reprint of Deane's Doctrine of Naval Architecture, 1670, the earliest full treatise on the subject in English. He is also the author of the highly successful two-volume history of sailing battleships, The Ship of The Line as well as the critically acclaimed bestselling Nelson's Navy.

HMS Beagle: Survey Ship Extraordinary by K H MarquardtHMS Beagle: Survey Ship Extraordinary by K H Marquardt
Ref: K031
HMS "Beagle": Survey Ship Extraordinary by Karl Heinz Marquardt: This is a history of the 10-gun brig and survey ship, "HMS Beagle". It became famous for her survey voyages under Commander Robert Fitzroy, especially once Charles Darwin, a passenger on the second expedition, wrote the "On the Origin of Species", which was based on studies undertaken during the voyage. Despite her fame, a three-dimensional model of the ship has been neglected by museums, as specific plans do not exist, but the author has researched the three different ages of the "Beagle" to draw his own accurate plans and build his own scale model. His research, photographs and plans are designed to bring the "HMS Beagle" more readily to modelmakers and ship historians alike.

The Flower Class Corvette Agassiz by John MckayThe Flower Class Corvette Agassiz by John Mckay
Ref: K751
The Flower Class Corvette Agassiz by John Mckay: The Flower class corvette was one of the most famous and numerous of all escort vessels, and the corvette Agassiz is the most representative of the Canadian Flowers, which were thrown into the thick of the bitter Atlantic convoy battles of 1941–2. Derived from a whalecatcher hull design, and intended as a cheap coastal escort that could be built by non-specialist yards, the Flowers were the only class available in large numbers when the submarine war flared up in earnest in 1941. As a result they were used on rigorous ocean convoy duties for which they were barely adequate, and their crews suffered greatly in one of the harshest arenas of the second world war. This is a superb description of the ship and her career. The ‘Anatomy of the Ship’ series aims to provide the finest documentation of individual ships and ship types ever published. What makes the series unique is a complete set of superbly executed line drawings, both the conventional type of plan as well as explanatory views, with fully descriptive keys. These are supported by technical details and a record of the ship’s service history

The Battleship Yamato by Janusz SkulskiThe Battleship Yamato by Janusz Skulski
Ref: K909
The Battleship Yamato by Janusz Skulski : This highly acclaimed series aims to provide the finest documentation of individual ships and ship types ever published. Concentrating on the ships service history, technical details of appearance and full specifications this series also contains a complete set of superbly executed line drawings- the 3 view type as well as explanatory perspective views with fully described keys. These drawings are accurate, visually exciting and totally comprehensive, offering historians and modelmakers a novel insight into the technicalities of each ship covered. With the greatest displacement, biggest guns and heaviest armour of all time, Yamato and her sister Musashi were the ultimate battleships. Everything about them was gigantic each main armament turret, for example, had a total revolving weight of over 2500 tons — and they proved formidable opponents to the US Pacific Fleet. Fittingly for such a spectacular ship as Yamato, this contribution to the well-established ‘Anatomy’ series is the biggest and most detailed, with over twice as many drawings as a standard volume.
This book features
Full description of the design and construction of the ship, including wartime modifications, and a career history
Pictorial section with some rare on-board views of the ship and her sister
Colour guide and action painting on the jacket
Over 600 perspective and 3-view drawings of the main features of the ship — general arrangements, hull construction and armour, superstructure, armament and fire control, fittings, boats and aircraft.
