All of the models in the Deans range are designed as working scale models and are made to be as accurate as possible, within the price restrictions. Each model prototype is designed so as to produce a realistic scale performance on the water and be capable of negotiating any M.P.B.A. competition course.

Hulls are of lightweight fibreglass or vac-formed in a high impact styrene. The decks and superstructures are supplied as computer printed plastic sheet, that can be assembled with liquid cement for ease of construction, and the minimum of finishing. The superstructures in the launches are vac-formed in plastic, for quick and easy assembly.

The kits are complete with fittings, cast in a lightweight alloy for fine detail, with some of the larger items being cast in resin, to save on weight. To complement this, fragile items like stanchions, ladders, dial sights and lattice masts are made from etched brass to give a crisp finishing touch to the model, that can stand up to the rough handling that hard working models are sometimes subjected to. All kits come with rudder and prop tube assemblies and come complete with a full sized plan and illustrated building instructions.
