Model Boats Magazine November 2014

Model Boats Magazine November 2014

This issue includes a Centrefold FREE PLAN designed by Ron Rees for 'The Amazing'. This is a universal hard chine hull, made from Depron, that can be easily adapted to suit the huge range of modern, and not so modern, fast boats. Depron is inexpensive, easily cut and glued, and a hull can be made in a few hours by anyone who work safely with a modeller's knife. Ron has completed his example as a US Swift PCF boat powered by a single small brushless motor, but the choice is yours as the hull can be scaled to whatever is most practical for the model builder. He is also completing his unique model of the Targa 37 Thames police launch, previously featured in the September and October 2014 issues.

USS Columbus is a unique American warship model and it is featured in depth in Range Finder. 2014 is the 70th anniversary of D-Day in 1944 and to celebrate that a group of Model Boats' readers who are regular 'posters' on our Free Forum, organised a successful event at Bushy Park in early June and a report is included in these pages.

2014 has also been a great year for British model yachtsmen, with Brad' Gibson winning once again the World Radio Controlled Marblehead Championship held this time in Holland, so 'Well Done' to him for that achievement. In Readers' Models there are a range of your inspirational craft featured, including a fine free-sailing model of HM Bark Endeavour and in Around the Clubs, the Victoria Model Steamboat Club celebrated their 110 years of existence this last summer

Model Boats Magazine October 2014

This issue includes a full-size Free Plan designed by Glynn Guest for Skimmer 5/600, complete with comprehensive building instructions and advice. In addition, David Heaps describes his fully functioning semi-submersible model of a heavy-lift ship and Ron Rees' continues with Part Two of the construction of his unique model of the Botnia Marine Targa 37 Police Launch, the fantastic plan for it now available from MyHobbyStore.

Dave Wooley went to Harrogate for the 2014 National Model Engineering and Modelling Exhibition, an event that has a considerable marine modelling input and his pictures tell the story. We also have all the usual regular articles, including a very nice HMS Vindictive from one of our Belgian subscribers in Readers' Models. Alvaston Pirates are a new club and Phil Button has a report from their rain-soaked official opening day.
