Supplied fully assembled the Clyde twin cylinder oscillator engine has an 11mm bore/stroke and is designed to operate on steam pressures between 30 and 45psi. The engine’s cast components are from a marine grade non-corrosive alloy which will not tarnish or corrode like traditional brass alloys often used in inferior model oscillator designs. The crankshaft is from stainless steel and the remainder of the machined components from brass. This combination gives maximum protection from corrosion and helps to give excellent life to the engine.

This 3" horizontal centre flue style boiler system is designed to run small medium pressure model steam engines of up to 19mm (3/4") bore/stroke in Single Cylinder and 16mm (5/8") bore/stroke in Twin Cylinder with an operating pressure of up to 60psi. As illustrated, the traditional design of this boiler system - the steam dome with collar and flue with collar and the integral cast feet - will add to the charm and feel of any model you care to mount it in. The cast feet also mean that the boiler can be mounted anywhere - there is no need for a specialised mounting tray, making installation a simple process, even in tricky models. Walnut lagging timber and brass securing straps are also included.

The boiler also includes the Miniature Steam Ceramic Burner (MS5092). This burner is cast from ceramic and has been specifically designed to provide optimum burning characteristics in enclosed spaces such as the centre flue or firebox of a boiler. They are entirely different to inferior ceramic burners made from heating tiles designed for radiant room heaters! The gas/air mixture of the Miniature Steam ceramic burner burns outside the ceramic insert. This results in a more efficient transfer of heat to the boiler’s heating surface. The burner also remains relatively cool, thus improving the thermal efficiency of the burner and minimising the chance of back burning.

NOTE: The Horizontal Boiler is pressure tested before shipping and is therefore supplied with test certificate.

It is a mandatory item in many countries that permit use of steam engine models for hobby use..Lubrication oil that is essential to prevent wear engine of components during use is carried to the exhaust with the steam and must be separated for ecological reasons.The engine exhaust gases pass through this product and gather the excess lubricating oil. It must be removed from time to time.A 10 ml syringe is supplied with the unit to enable periodical removal of extracted oil through the port shown in the drawing.Inlet and exhaust pipes are a standard 3/16" (4.7 mm) copper tube and are normally made with “slip on” rubber tube supplied with the unit. This is essentially a passive item in a power assembly; Suitable for twin cylinder engines with bore/stroke up to 11 mm.
