This Deans Marine kit boasts the the following features:
Designed as a working radio controlled model, but with enough detail to make a nice static display model as well

The decks and superstructure comprise of computer printed Plasticard sheet, which aid the quick assembly of these items.
Bulky items such as the funnel, ship’s boats, and turrets etc, are Vac-formed lightweight plastic mouldings.

History
The 'D' class destroyers were typical of the whole series of successive classes from “A” to “I” built for the Royal Navy in the 1930's. In general these were economy designs and tended to be smaller and less well armed than destroyers of the other major powers. HMS Daring was launched by Thornycroft in 1932 on a Displacement of 1.375 tons. Her main weapons were four x 4.7' guns and eight x 21in torpedo tubes. She was powered by geared turbines on 2 shafts giving 36,000 s.h.p. and a top speed of some 36 knots. H.M.S. Daring was commanded by Lord Louis Mountbatten in 1934. She met her end in February 1940, when she was torpedoed by a U boat off Duncansby Head in Scotland.
