This Deans Marine kit boasts the the following features:
Designed as a working radio controlled model, but with enough detail to make a nice static display model as well
Plated Glassfibre hull, with all portholes and other surface details moulded in.
The decks and superstructure comprise of computer printed Plasticard sheet, which aid the quick assembly of these items.
Bulky items such as the funnel, ship’s boats, and turrets etc, are Vac-formed lightweight plastic mouldings.
Cast white metal and resin deck fittings.
Delicate items like the hand rail and stanchions from etched brass sheet, which keep the weight down.
Propshaft, tube and propeller.

History
The frigates of the Tribal class were constructed to perform the three functions of Air Direction, Anti-Aircraft and Anti-Submarine duties. For this reason they were classed as general purpose frigates. When launched they were quite advanced vessels and included many new features in their design. The Tribal’s were the first ships to be fitted to carry a helicopter, having a hangar between the aft 4.5in gun and the MK10 mortar and the new Seacat missile system. The most significant feature were the engines. Comprising of a steam turbine propulsion system, producing 15,000 S.H.P and a gas turbine, producing 7,500 S.H.P, that boosted the vessels top speed to some 28 knots. The weapon fit of the class were Two 4.5in guns Two Seacat launch pads (or two x 4mm Bofors) one 3 barrel MK10 mortar. Some ships were later fitted with two 20mm Oerlikons and two 8 barrelled decoy rocket launchers.
