Trein Mearsk. T Class Trein Mearsk. T Class Ref: DM50
This Deans Marine kit boasts the the following features:

Designed as a working radio controlled model, but with enough detail to make a nice static display model as well
Moulded glass fibre hull, with all the prop, rudder and fairlead detail moulded in
The deck and main hold top are included as one piece glass fibre moulding, and bonded to 9mm square ramin deck beams.
The main superstructure and central container crane components are made from computer printed 1mm plasticard sheet, which aids speedy assembly and requires the minimum of finishing.
The 12 separate main container blocks are highly detailed glass fibre mouldings which serve as access hatches to the cavernous hull. Extra containers can be added to provide an assorted mix of reefers and containers so if you wish to carry a full load you can add up to 1,100 containers. Although for a sailing model, this probably isn't wise
To compliment this large model, a full set of detailed cast alloy fittings are included, made using some of the latest moulding technology. These are complimented with large items, such as the free fall lifeboat, main winches and other miscellaneous fittings, in fine cast resin.
The plans come on two full sized sheets together with a comprehensive instruction manual (Available in German if required) providing pictures and sketches that aid construction.
Propshaft, tube and propeller.

History

The 'T' class container ships were designed and constructed for the Maersk line in 1990 by the Tsoneishi shipbuilding Co of Japan. There are four ships in the class, all sailing under the Maersk flag. The ships are named, M.S Trein Maersk, M.S Tobias Maersk, M.S Thorkil Maersk, and M.S Torben Maersk. In 1995 the Trein Maersk was renamed the T.R.S.L Antares and was registered in the Isle of Man - as are many of the Maersk ships working from the U.K.

These vessels are primarily used as feeder and container ships in countries and ports where no container facilites exist. The full size container crane with an extended reach, enables the containers to be unloaded direct onto local transport, or the dockside. For this reason she is fitted with very powerful bow and stem thrusters, to allow unaided docking in small ports, where tugs powerful enough to handle such a ship, are often not available. The ships are capable of carrying mixed sizes of standard containers and have massive power plants capable of supplying power to 200 reefers (freezer) containers.

The 'T' class is powered by a Burmiester and Wain 8SSOMC diesel engine, capable of producing 14,240 shp, giving a max speed of 20.27 knots and a service speed of 18 knots. The ship carries a crew of 20, plus a Suez crew of 6 when required. The keel of the Trein Maersk was laid in October 1989, and she was launched in Jan 1990 and delivered to her owners on the 15th May 1990. At the present time (1996) the Trein Maersk is operating from Hamburg and Felixstowe.
