PT Boat no 117 1:72 scale Ref: RV05048 The PT 117 belonged to the smallest, fastest and most manoeuvrable combat vessels of the US Marine Cops, the patrol torpedo boats also known as mosquitos because they "stung" the enemy at high speed. Four 2500hp heavy-duty supercharged engines (12 cyl. Packard) gave the boat a maximum speed of 50 knots. In addition, these boats featured specially designed hulls (50t displacement) allowing the boats to glide over the water. Fitted with 4 torpedos, 4 MGs and an anti-aircraft gun, they were a serious threat to the enemy especially in the restricted island waters of the Pacific.
