Alte Leibe

For almost every day for thirty years, the tug boat Alte Liebe could be seen in Cuxhaven harbour under full steam. She was used as a Pilot, Fireboat and Salvage Tug and was built in 1931 by the Nobiskrug Gmbh shipyard at Rendsburg.
Powered by a triple expansion steam engine, built by Christiansen & Meyer, with a power output of some 300 hp at 210 rpm . The boiler was of a single cylinder tube type with return flue. She was launched on 2nd September 1931 and after further test launches on 12th and 14th November she went into service at Cuxhaven on December 6th 1931. On 16th August 1940 Alte Liebe was given to the German Marine and returned on 15th February 1941. She was in use at Cuxhaven until 8th April 1960 after which she was sold to the Tug Company O Wulf of Cuxhaven. One year later she was again sold, this time to Mr Hans Gerlach of Hamburg. A complete superstructure change was made and a diesel engine installed. Renamed Kirstin, she can now be seen in Hamburg harbour.
The kit contains over 450 white metal fittings, Laser cut superstructure and deck, screen printed wheel house and fully detailed GRP hull. Along with full size drawings and comprehensive building instructions.
