This Deans Marine kit boasts the the following features:
Designed as a working radio controlled model, but with enough detail to make a nice static display model as well
Plated Glassfibre hull, with all portholes and other surface details moulded in.
The decks and superstructure comprise of computer printed Plasticard sheet, which aid the quick assembly of these items.
Bulky items such as the funnel, ship’s boats, and turrets etc, are Vac-formed lightweight plastic mouldings.
Cast white metal and resin deck fittings.
Propshaft, tube and propeller.
Full sized plan.

History
This model is of a class of warship that ship lovers think is the most handsome and elegant of all, to serve in the Royal Navy. The speed, lines, and offensive power of the armed destroyers has always captured the imagination of all warship enthusiasts, and the Battle class combines all of the best with a powerful gun armament
The ships are referred to as the 1942 class, and most handsome they were in appearance. They embraced all the features that had been learnt during the war years, but so complicated was the weapons fit that only one of the class was completed by 1944. A further six ships joined the fleet in 1945. The last of the fleet was completed in 1948.
H.M.S. Solebay She was built by Hawthorn Leslie, Hebburn on Tyne and launched in February 1944 and was completed on October 1945.She was the leader of the 5th destroyer flotilla from completion until 1953, so she would have carried the broad black band around her funnel. She was at the Coronation review at Spithead in 1953, after which this she was paid off into reserve at Chatham. In 1957 she joined the 1st Destroyer squadron on Med/Home service. In 1959 she was deployed in the Far East, returning in 1960 for a further Home/Med service. In 1962 returned to Portsmouth to become harbour training ship. She was broken up in Troon a 1967.
